CVAN East (ECVAN) is a network of arts professionals, organisations and artists across the six counties of the East of England that highlight, develop and support the arts across the region.

Through working on collective curatorial projects, ECVAN supports the rich visual arts ecology of our rural, coastal and urban arts communities through collaboration, knowledge sharing, advocacy and mutual support.

Recent region-wide projects include New Geographies, a three-year programme of public art commissions, events, exhibitions, performances and workshops exploring forgotten and overlooked places of the Eastern region.

In 2021/22, we are developing a new pilot project called New Histories, focussing on decolonising regional histories and highlighting untold contemporary perspectives in the East of England. Working with diverse migrant communities, LGBTQ+ young people, refugees and marginalised individuals and groups to develop ways to capture and share their stories and explore ‘intersectionality’ within the community.

Current partner institutions are Art Exchange, University of Essex Colchester; East Gallery, Norwich University of the Arts; Firstsite, Colchester; Focal Point Gallery, Southend; Kettle’s Yard, University of Cambridge; Norwich Castle Museum & Art Gallery; original projects; Great Yarmouth; UH Arts, and the University of Hertfordshire.

CVAN East is part of Wysing Arts Centre, Cambridgeshire.
