Oliver Sumner is Manager of Contemporary Visual Arts Network (CVAN) South East, a role hosted and directly employed by Modern Art Oxford.
A specialist in creative learning and visual arts engagement, Oliver’s independent activities include research, evaluation and project management. He has undertaken freelance contracts for many cultural organisations including Arts Council Collection, Arts Council England, the British Council, Engage, Greater London Authority, Hayward Touring, the Saturday Club Trust and Tate.
Previously, he has held senior programming roles at Camden Arts Centre (London), John Hansard Gallery (Southampton) and Aspex Gallery (Portsmouth). Oliver has a 25-year history of close curatorial partnerships with artists, many of which have involved socially engaged projects, residencies and international exchanges.
Oliver is based in Portsmouth.
